DJ Kyle Sherwood – The Badhabit DJs
Kyle has had an interest in music and DJing since the mid 80’s (he’s getting on a bit). From this early age he’d developed a thirst for slicing beats and blending sound effects and acapella’s, recording new versions of his favourite songs to a C90 tape and then sharing them with his school friends.
“I had an imported 3 cassette deck ghetto blaster and was the envy of the playground. I could hit record and play two other tapes at the same time, I could hit pause, change the positions and edit in new sounds, it blew my mind”
He had his first set of (belt driven) turntables at the age of 12 and was heavily into his Hip Hop.
Acts like Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy and De La Soul constantly playing on his Sony Walkman rip off.
“I was hanging out with the DJ Pelt from the HIT and Miss crew and was already aware of sampling and how the records I love were produced. I used to pick up the mic myself at his home studio and rap”.
He loved disco, rare groove and the funk music he heard at weekends and from here he went on to set up his own home studio with a friend from college. For years after classes making Jungle and drum and bass. Even getting to press their own limited edition white label in 1993.
Then in the summer of 1994 he had his first experience of IBIZA!!!
This changed everything. House music became a way of life. The love affair had begun.
Investing in his technics SL1200’s not long after, he began DJing on a regular basis. Soon he’d be DJing every weekend, building his collection of vinyl and getting his friends out to enjoy the music with him. Landing what would turn out to be a 12 year resident spot at Hitchin’s then popular Bar Ab, the love for house music just grew and grew. In the summer of 2004 he launched his own clubbing brand BADHABIT.
Badhabit is still going strong with regular nights throughout the calendar hosting nights and recently bringing Judge Jules to the quiet market town of Hitchin.
His DJs have played in some of Londons biggest clubs, including MOS, Pacha, Turnmills and the mighty Cross with some of the leading promotors such as Hed Kandi, Kinky Malinki and Pukka Up.
Finally In recent years I’ve become a resident at Shhh playing at both the 2019 and 2021 Festivals along side… Brandon Block, Tall Paul, Seb Fontaine, Jon the Pleased and Axel.
